Learning about native plants and growing native plants are what Wild Ones is all about.
The Wild Ones Journal is a national publication for dues-paying Wild Ones members. Did your membership expire? Renew now! Not a member yet? Join now and select the Dayton Area chapter! You’re a member of both for one annual cost.
To help you grow native plants, Dayton Area Wild Ones annually publishes a list of native plant sales in the area on our “Grow Native” page. While individual vendors may have additional sales, this list includes multi-vendor sales and sales by nonprofit organizations in the area. The Grow Native page also lists area native plant businesses and provides links to download three of our popular handouts: on native plants that provide fall color and on “beginner-friendly” native plants for both sun and shade.
Our “Recommended Reading” page lists many helpful books on native plants and nature, recommended by our members, that can help you better learn and enjoy the native gardening journey.
In addition, native plant and native gardening seminars, webinars, symposiums, and conferences (under our “Programs & Events” tab), as well as Dayton Area Wild Ones events, are great ways to learn more about native plants and related topics.
Tips and Helpful Handouts:
But before you remove most or all of your grass and convert your landscape to native plants (which we hope you will do!), please check your local ordinances and zoning code. Join our Weed Ordinance Project and help change laws if needed!
